Free Alphabet Printable for Preschool Kids
At the bottom of this post, I have added a free alphabet printable for you to use with your child or student. I made these for my own children and I’m happy to share them with you. These printables are simple and with no added distractions.
This printable is perfect for preschoolers, kindergarteners or any child ready to learn their alphabet letters.
I use these with my preschooler and we play lots of games with them.
I’ll share with you below how I put the free printables together. And how we use them in our games, but keep in mind that you’re not limited to use them in the same way we do.
You can create your own games and activities!
Supplies:
- Download the Alphabet Letters Mats Printable (below this post.)
- Manipulatives such as bingo chips, two-color counters, pom poms, magnetic letters, playdough, bottle tops, etc.
- Dry-erase pockets like the ones HERE or sheet protectors (optional)
- Laminator and laminating sheets. (optional)
- Dry Erase Markers (optional)
How to put together your Free Alphabet Printable
There are a few options you can try when putting your printable sheets together such as:
- Laminating them with laminating sheets.
- Using them in dry erase pockets.
- Creating a learning binder and putting them in sheet protectors.
- Using them as is.

Learning through games with your Free Alphabet Printable
Here are some alphabet game suggestions to get you started:
1. These are wonderful for singing the alphabet song while pointing at each letter. Then if your child is up for the challenge, try reciting the alphabet from Z to A.
2. Laminate the printable or put it in a sheet protector and ask your child to pull a magnetic letter out of a container with their eyes closed. Then ask them to put it on top of the matching letter on the alphabet mat.
When playing this game make sure you separate the upper case from the lower case letters.
3. Play “I spy a letter in the alphabet” and call out a random letter by saying something like “I spy with my little eyes the letter R”. Have the child cover it with a small manipulative such as bingo chips or two-color counters like the ones here.
4. Prep 26 balls of playdough and grab a set of alphabet flashcards. Have the child match the correct letter on the flashcard to the one on the mat by placing a small ball of playdough on top and pushing it down flat with their finger.
These are fun ways we have used these alphabet mats.
