Free Daycare Printable: Injury Report

As child care providers, we do everything possible to keep the kids safe. We childproof the inside and outside of our daycare space. We take health and safety classes to learn how to be prepared for the unexpected.

And of course, there’s so much more we do…

However, on occasion even when all precautions are taken, accidents can still happen. It is our responsibility as the child’s caregiver to quickly handle the injury and notify parents as soon as possible.

The injury report should be used EVERY time a child has an injury or accident while in your care. It doesn’t matter how minor you think it is, it’s always best to make a report of it and let the child’s parent or guardian know. Trust me, parents will appreciate knowing that you took great care of their child’s “ouchy”.

Also, keeping good records of everything that happens during your care will help you in case an injury turns out to be worst than you suspected. You want to document what happened when it happened and what you did to help the child feel better (band-aid, rest, ointment, TLC, etc.).
